Ahead of their manifesto launch today, the Lib Dems announced an extra £10 billion for schools. A generous package, right? That is until you look at a little closer at the details.
The Lib Dems get the extra £10 billion figure by comparing their plans for 2024/25 with what the Tories plan to spend this year.
In reality, by 2022-23 they’re only planning to spend £400 million, or 0.79%, more than the Tories.
